Packrafting Grewingk Lake:
Have you hiked to a beautiful alpine lake or meandering river and wished you had a way to get on the water? With packrafting, you can. Packrafting turns all those blue circles and squiggly lines that represent lakes and rivers on your hiking map into possibilities for exploration. On this trip, you will have access to your own inflatable boat and get yourself out onto the lake and meander amongst floating icebergs that float just offshore, towering spires of blue ice, or paddle across the lake to get an up close and personal view of the face of Grewingk Glacier
Hiking Alpine Ridge:
A popular route to alpine areas, the trail begins at camp and winds its way 3.8 miles, sometimes steeply, following a ridge through spruce and alder to alpine tundra, ending on a treeless knoll (near 2100 feet), with spectacular views of Grewingk Glacier and a deep glacial valley. Alpine tundra above treeline invites further exploration of the ridge. On a clear day you can view at least 4 active volcanoes along the Aleutian Range across the Cook Inlet, and even Denali in the distance. Bring plenty of water on warm days. You may even take advantage of swimming in an alpine lake if you're feeling adventurous.
*The daily hiking excursion may include easy to moderate hikes, weather factors will dictate which hiking activities we will partake in, but one half-day excursion includes the Alpine Ridge Trail. This is a strenuous, uphill 3.8-mile one way hike that climbs 2,000ft to the upper portion of Alpine Ridge showcasing the magnificent 360-degree views of Kachemak Bay State Park, Grewingk Glacier, and surrounding areas. A dip in an alpine lake is a wonderful reward. Guests should be prepared to push their bodies physically on this hike.

Kachemak Bay is a critical habitat area, supporting many species of marine life. Guests frequently observe sea otters, seals, porpoise and whales. Inter-tidal zones offer natural settings for marine studies. Land mammals include moose, black bear, mountain goats, coyotes and wolves. The many species of birds that inhabit the bay, including eagles, gyrfalcons and puffins, make it a popular area for bird watching. Alaska's first state park contains roughly over 25 miles of park trails, ranging from easy to difficult and 400,000 acres of mountains, glaciers, forests and ocean. The bay's twisted rock formations are evidence of the movement of the earth's crust. Highlighted by constantly changing weather patterns, the park's outstanding scenery is a backdrop for high quality, transformational experiences.
"As someone in the health and medical space, I've attended a great number of spiritual and wellness events. Many were enlightening. Some were in beautiful settings. But none combined both the enlightening element with a serene environment as well as this retreat did. The ability to connect with nature in such an intimate way, while also connecting with yourself and others served as an incredible catalyst to revitalize my body, mind and spirit. Even with an advanced understanding of psycho-emotional and spiritual practices, I found myself relearning many principles for self-improvement and absorbing the information differently. For anyone seeking a reawakening or a reconnection with nature or to their purpose on this beautiful Earth, I could not recommend this retreat enough."
“Stephanie and Ben’s MindBodySoul Retreat ended up being the massive, gentle nudge that I needed to take some serious steps towards my most authentic self. Prior to the retreat, I had been going back and forth about some career and geographic changes that I felt I needed to make, but kept them at bay, making excuses for why I shouldn’t take the leap and justifying that it ‘wasn’t the right time yet. The opportunity they provided to step outside my comfort zone, physically and emotionally, in a vulnerable, trusting, and safe container, allowed me to truly tap into my core and release some blocks of fear I didn’t realize were there. I am so grateful for both of them and the gifts they bring, as well as how gracefully they shared that space with everyone else and helped us elevate and recognize our own gifts as well. I would absolutely recommend joining them on a Mind Body Soul Retreat. Whether you are looking for a quiet weekend, a deep soul search, laughter, nature, or connection with others, this is the retreat for you.
This trip was the best I’ve been on this year! The views, weather, people, and experience were awesome. Me being an introvert I had mixed feelings about going with so many people I didn’t know but being able to be open, free, or even independent to express any feelings and thoughts with the group was as beautiful as the space that it went down into. It was truly memorable, thank you!”
“I highly recommend Retreats Alaska. Thank you to Stephanie and Ben for offering such an amazing experience. I could not have put this trip together better if I tried. They spent an outstanding amount of energy helping me find the answers I desperately needed. After that, we spent time defining what those answers meant and, most importantly, guiding me through how to put that plan into action once I returned to my daily life. Now that I’m back life has changed I have changed and I have unconditional support from them. This is not about money it’s about a genuine concern for your happiness and your ability to live your life guided by that. Thanks again for everything you have done, are doing, and will continue to do. ”
